Wedding venue confirmed!
04 April 2024
Since we both love the beach, and Koh Chang is one of our favorite islands in Thailand due to its laid-back atmosphere, we decided to celebrate our wedding at the beautiful Blue Haven Bay right at the northern tip of Koh Chang.
We are pretty thrilled that everything worked out and that we were able to secure our dream location for our wedding, and we hope that many of you will share the excitement and book a trip to Thailand to celebrate with us.
With its beautiful beaches, secluded coves and exclusive villas, Blue Haven Bay is one of the most beautiful and exclusive holiday destinations not only on Koh Chang, but in all of Thailand. Blue Haven Bay was developed around Koh Chang’s marina and offers a wide variety of accomodation and restaurants, as well as plenty of vacation activities for the entire family. Due to its protected and private setting it is an ideal playground for kids. It is also a good starting base for day trips to explore the rest of the island and visit some of Koh Chang’s beautiful waterfalls and beaches or one of its elephant camps (that’s where the name comes from, Chang (thail.) = elephant), or other tourist attractions.
There is plenty of accommodation available at Blue Haven Bay directly or within its vicinity.
To make it as easy as possible for our guests, we will arrange free accommodation for our wedding guests at Blue Haven Bay directly for the night before and the night after the wedding (23/10 – 25/10). In order to do so, it is important that you give us your confirmed feedback until 24/04 and that you tell us the number and names of guests joining your group, in case you’re not coming alone. Please feel free to use the RSVP form to do that.
Guests, who plan to extend their stay at Blue Haven Bay either before or after the wedding, we kindly ask them to contact us with their individual plans, so that we can consider this when assigning rooms and finalizing accommodation agreements with the host. In some cases we will even be able to arrange special rates for longer stays.
Koh Chang is located in the Gulf of Thailand, approximately 300km south-east of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) towards the border to Cambodia. By car or bus, it is approximately 3.5 hours from Pattaya and 4 hours from BKK airport to the ferry point on the mainland. There are other domestic airports close by, like Utapao airport (UTP) or Trat airport (TDX), which can be interesting for people who plan to travel around Thailand before or after the wedding. When booking your flights, be aware, that Bangkok’s old international airport in the north of Bangkok (Don Mueang Airport DMK) is also still in operation. DMK airport is roughly 45 minutes further away from Koh Chang than BKK airport.
For people who prefer flying over driving, a domestic flight from BKK to TDX can be an option. However, considering transit times, baggage claim and re-check-in (baggage can not be checked through to Trat from international flights), the trip is not likely to be faster by plane than it would be by car.
The ferry to Koh Chang accomodates passengers and cars and takes 20 minutes for the crossing. October is still considered low season, so that the car queue at the ferry should not be more than 30 minutes. There are also long-term parking lots available on the mainland on case traveler prefer to leave the car behind and crossover on foot. Keep in mind, that the day before the wedding (23/10) is a Thai holiday (Chulalongkorn Day), which some locals may use to travel to the islands for a long weekend.
Once on the island, it is only a short 5-minute drive from the ferry to Blue Haven Bay, the location of our wedding.
If you have any questions regarding transportation, the wedding in general or your individual travel plans, you are more than welcome to contact us directly anytime.
Best wishes to all,
Kan & Mario
